Windsor Castle gift shop is ready for Donald Trump’s state visit

A commemorative cup and plate which have the same image of Donald Trump and Jeffry Epstein

An Instagram account has posted a video from what they say is the Windsor Castle gift shop. It shows traditional merchandise like cups and plates with Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein emblazoned on them.

It’s a sign that Trump’s upcoming state visit will go about as well as the last one:

Merch drop at Windsor Castle

The video from new campaign group Everyone Hates Elon shows a commemorative cup and plate featuring Epstein and Trump:

The cup at Windsor Castle features the message ‘never forget’ (as if we ever could); the plate is emblazoned with ‘in memory of a terrific guy’. This is something you could imagine Trump actually saying, as in 2024 he frequently made reference to the “late, great Hannibal Lecter”:

It should be noted that Hannibal Lecter doesn’t die in the books, and none of the actors who played him have died either. Anyway, this is the guy we’re giving an unprecedented second state visit to next week.

This is how we reported on the announcement in March:

BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg asked Starmer:

“why does Donald Trump deserve a second state visit? Or frankly, was it a diplomatic enticement so that you could get him on board?”

His response was as follows:

“Well that’s a matter for the king”

This was perhaps the most weaselly thing he could have said, and Kuenssberg pointed this out, saying:

It wouldn’t have happened if the government hadn’t wanted it to, prime minister, come on – everybody knows that.

As much as we dislike Kuenssberg, her own personal dislike of Starmer meant she actually made a good point here. What an absolute weasel this man is to pretend like this wasn’t his decision – especially as he immediately switched to talking about the visit as if it was all part of Labour’s grand plan for ‘peace in Europe’.

Starmer literally stammered before responding:

“This is a moment of real fragility in Europe.”

Oh, is that the case? Well I’m sure the answer to that problem is to encourage more military involvement from the US – that’s never made things worse. We’re additionally certain the famously “stable genius” Donald Trump is a reliable partner who we can trust to support our long-term strategic goals, much like he’s currently supporting the long-term strategic ambitions of Ukraine

Horror show

We regret to inform you there’s much worse going on in Trump’s America than the confused memorialising of cannibals.

As reported by the BBC, America has become an increasingly authoritarian horror show since January. This has involved masked ICE agents black bagging citizens and deporting them without due process to an El Salvadorean torture fortress:

Aged between 23 and 39, they had all been living in the US. Some had entered in accordance with US law, others had crossed the border illegally, before they were accused of being violent gang members and deported to El Salvador.

They all deny any gang involvement and criminal activity, and say they were never given an opportunity to challenge the accusations against them. Most are convinced they were singled out because of their various tattoos, which US authorities have claimed demonstrate potential links to Tren de Aragua, a powerful regional criminal group that originated in Venezuela.

Some of those detained said:

“They make you kneel, slap you, hit you, kick you,” sometimes with sticks, he adds.

Arturo – a singer from Caracas – says after one beating there, he was unable to sit down because his ribs and kidneys hurt so much. “Twice I spat blood. My head was like a punch bag.”

He was taken there more than 10 times, he says, mostly as a punishment for singing.

Andry says on one occasion, guards sexually abused him. He believes this was because he is openly gay.

He says he didn’t dare report it to prison management because he “was afraid that something much worse would happen… that’s why we all decided to remain silent”.

For those who’ve followed American politics for awhile, you’ll probably note the above sounds very much like the sort of thing America inflicts on its enemies. Some of these enemies were once allies – food for thought when you’re considering the US-UK ‘special relationship’, and where that will lead us now the US is collapsing into authoritarianism.

Perps of a feather

We don’t know who put these ornaments inside the gift shop, but we imagine it was someone outside the Royal Family. And by ‘outside the Royal Family’, we mean ‘someone who isn’t a Royal’ – not prince Andrew, who was forced to step down from his princely duties as a result of alleged noncery.

It’s a shame Peter Mandelson was also forced out of his position this week. If he was still in place, Mandelson, Andrew, and Trump could have got together to reminisce about the many fun acts they committed with their best pal Jeffry Epstein.

Failing that, we’ll just have to make do with the commemorative photos we have of Donald J. Trump and the late-but-not-so-great Jeffry Epstein.
